In 2008, the Beyond Words Festival, with the generous sponsorship of the Brookwood Partnership and University College School, set up the first Book Award in which the finalist books are reviewed by young readers.

from all over the country have engaged in reading, reviewing and nominating their favourite title.
We have six exciting new books on our shortlist, and we have added over 100 more reviews to the website. All the reviews received are featured, but ccasionally, we need to cut out parts, if they give away the plot or too much of the story.
Prizes for the best reviews in 2008 were awarded to Kasia Olszewska, Christina Fleischer, Ava Annahid Zamani, Oscar Volhard Dearman and Ben Levett.
Last year's winning author, Marcus Sedgwick - author of Blood Red Snow White (Orion) - was presented with the award of £500 by Chris Bradford.
